6 Movies that should be video games...or not
I recently read this article: http://videogames.yahoo.com/feature/6-films-that-should-be-games/1218345
Only two of the six listed have the potential to be an OK video game. Lets be real Ben Silverman, Momento as a video game? Interesting concept indeed, but how is a video game character going to continually forget things? Sounds like that game may get extremely annoying to play. As the person playing the game you would obviously remember everything, so how would you make the character ‘forget.’ Ultimatly, all attempts at creating an in-game memory loss concept would lead to poorly designed similair to “Lost” memory flashbacks in which you have to take a picture of a scene to get the memory back. Awful.
“The film tramples over the space-time continuum like Marty McFly, starting at both the end and the beginning only to wind up somewhere in the middle, we think. Confused? So were we…”
At least he admits it would be confusing. Also, Children of men? Playing a video game where you have to constantly look out for anyone besides yourself can be very annoying. Its bad enough when you have to escort someone in one level, but an entire game built around that? To make things worse the guy in the movie, clive owen is it? doesnt carry a weapon, or at least hardly ever does. I dont think he shot at anyone the entire movie. Creating a video game that was anything similiar would just be a lame game. The changes they would need to make to this game would be so drastic in the end any similiarities the game and movie once had would be no more.
Overall the list is hardly a list of movies that need to be converted to games and more-so a list of pretty good movies. Ill give him credit on Kill Bill (link) and 28 weeks later (link) though, so I guess two out six is ok.
My recommendations:
1. I am Legend
2. Gone in 60 Seconds
